Industrial real estate. Knowing the market and being able to match a client’s needs with the right property.
EXPERIENCE AS A REALTOR
“50 years. I received my real estate license in 1968 before I went into the service.”
ED IN THREE KEYWORDS
Committed, Stubborn, Detailed
“The most gratifying thing I have ever been involved in was the result of my wife getting involved with the ALS Association. This happened by virtue of her brother dying from the disease. She became a part of the local ALS boards to raise money for the organization and I assisted. What was impactful is, when you interact with the folks that have ALS, you know there is no resolution. Patients literally drift away. The families that surround them and the attitudes they have are just astounding. With that example, you have no reason to ever have a bad day. If there is anything that has had a more profound affect upon me from the outside, it was that experience.”
ED’s MOST MEMORABLE CUSTOMER
“Job Luning Prak. Job decided he was going to invest primarily in industrial real estate. Over the 35+ years, I worked with him, he bought over a dozen industrial buildings through me. After being very successful in another business, he chose to invest in real estate--for his family. He was a wonderful customer. When he said something, you could ‘put the bank to it’. He was that kind of gentleman.”
WHY WAS JOB YOUR FAVORITE CUSTOMER?
“I really liked his crustiness, that’s the best way I can put it. Once you earned his respect, you could bite back. He was a pleasure to work with—someone you could trust.”
WHY DO YOU THINK HE CHOSE YOU AS HIS REALTOR?
“Frankly, what he admired most about me is that I would argue with him.” There were a lot of disagreements we would have, but we would resolve our differences and eventually come to a resolution. Maybe that meant Joe would offer something different than I recommended on a property, but we would eventually get to close the deal.”
